With an eye for detail, Steve captured the essence of our home in his design - building a truly beautiful addition both inside and out. From reclaimed brick to match the exterior of the original house to baseboards and trim expertly matched to the original, our new addition is exactly what we wanted. Steve proved more than willing to work with us (demonstrating great patience) with our “ever-changing” ideas throughout the build. The results were worth it. We first met Steve in 1994 when he helped us design and build our new house. The building process was exciting and everything progressed smoothly. We love our Schroeder Design Build home. After living 31 years in Manitoba, we decided to retire to Southwestern Ontario where we had both spent our early years. We had a building lot, so our journey began with looking at local homes to see what we liked. Driving around we found several we liked, but one in particular drew us. I was bold enough to go to the door to inquire who had built the house. Then, driving to our lot we found that the builder was actually in the process of building a house just up the road from our spot!
From the start and throughout the process we had an excellent relationship with Steve and his team. Our first meeting with Steve was an informal hour at our table, coming up with a wish list of what we were looking for in a new home. He then visited our lot to get a feeling for our space and its aspect in the neighborhood. When he came back with a plan for us there were very few things we wanted to change. Steve listened to our wants and needs and the resulting home reflects our lifestyle and wishes, enabled by the Schroeder Design Build attention to detail and quality workmanship. When we decided to build a new home we went to many open houses to get ideas on what we would like. After gathering info and ideas we went to talk to Schroeder Design Build and described to Steve Schroeder what we would want in our new home. He went to work on designing with the info provided and it wasn’t long before we were looking at a layout that met our desires. With a few modifications we had a floor plan we loved and moved forward with the build. The whole process was a great experience for us because Steve layed out a road map of the process so we weren’t overwhelmed with making decisions at any one time. The quality of construction was in our opinion outstanding and after living here for 9 years we have had virtually no issues or concerns. We put our trust in Steve and he delivered.
